Chris Coyier has written an awesome article over at the CSS Tricks site that’s a virtual checklist of things to consider when building an online store or adding purchasing functionality to an existing site. Check out the article over there.

Ahhh…. if only I could live like this every day! ;-)

I love the Hermès website… the illustrations intertwined with photos of merchandise delight me to no end. I often go through and check out all the new products and allow myself to float through the world of Hermès online. They have created an immersive experience, bringing the user into a distinct atmosphere intended to surprise and delight them, which can provide that extra push toward craving ownership of one of these products (which are luxury in every way - most do not meet our basic daily needs.)

This is a beautiful iPhone case for the discriminating mobile traveler… calfskin with goatskin lining sounds wildly decadent (okay, or possibly horrific to animal lovers.)

Designers, look at the creativity employed in these images… this is the standard to which we should aspire! LOL!! Images like these elevate the typical ecommerce store into a true brand experience and that’s why this has been a favorite site of mine for years. The design has been this way for some time, yet it always feels fresh.

Behold the beautiful moleskin notebooks I ordered, in PINK! I have a wee problem. I am susceptible to wanting to put my hands on fine things. An influential person in my life recently posted a picture of his trusty Moleskin notebook and my little fingers got to googling. Of course, black is just way too austere for this girl. Love the two colors of pink and can’t wait to get them! I’m quite positive my client sketches will be even more inspired… like Picasso, I’m sure. ;-)
Ecommerce designers, please study this site. A mix of sturdy line art and real photographs create an experience that is easy (to comprehend notebook styles) and delightful. Good luck getting out of here without wanting to buy something. The purchasing process was very smooth - no pain here at all!
